FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
What grade levels and ages is SPIKE™ Prime designed for?▼
SPIKE™ Prime is designed for Grades 6–8 (ages 10–14). It is the natural next step after LEGO Education SPIKE Essential, offering genuine engineering complexity while staying age-appropriate and curriculum-aligned.
Is RoboGenius the authorised reseller of LEGO® Education in India?▼

How many sensors and motors are included in a SPIKE Prime set?▼
The standard SPIKE™ Prime set includes: 2× Large Angular Motors, 1× Medium Angular Motor, 1× Ultrasonic Distance Sensor, 1× Colour Sensor, 1× Force Sensor, and the Hub itself features a built-in 5×5 LED matrix and 6-axis gyro sensor. All connect to the Hub's 6 I/O ports via powered connectors.
Is the SPIKE Prime curriculum aligned with Indian board standards?▼
Yes. The programme is mapped to NEP 2020 competency frameworks and aligned with CBSE and ICSE STEM strands for Grades 6–8. India-specific curriculum adaptations are provided, covering subjects from mathematics and science to design thinking.
How many students can share one SPIKE Prime kit?▼
Each kit is designed for 2–3 students working simultaneously in a team format. For a class of 30, 10–12 kits are typically recommended. Each kit includes 528 LEGO® pieces plus all electronics — complete and ready to use out of the box.
What is the battery life and charging method?▼
The SPIKE™ Prime Hub uses a built-in 2000 mAh Li-Po rechargeable battery that supports 2–3 full class sessions per charge. It charges via Micro USB and is rated for 500+ recharge cycles — built for years of daily classroom use.
What is the difference between SPIKE Prime and WeDo or SPIKE Essential?▼
SPIKE Essential is for Grades 1–5 (ages 6–10) with simpler builds and icon-only coding. SPIKE Prime is for Grades 6–8 with advanced sensors, MicroPython programming, and competition-level challenges. WeDo 2.0 is an older platform — SPIKE Prime is LEGO Education's current flagship middle school kit.
